I’ve had several maternity sessions here lately and the big question is always, “what should I wear?”.  It can be difficult because you want something that is stylish and chic, yet comfortable, as well as finding something that accentuates your tummy.  And with the limited places to shop for maternity clothes, that can be no small feat to find the pieces to that puzzle!   This What to Wear guide is good for a mom-to-be alone, all the way up to a family maternity session.  Check it:

I always suggest bringing several items of clothing, and something like the above outfit, plus a plain black tank (can be worn with same jeans for look #2), works fab — it’s as simple as that!

Maternity Photographer Tyler Texas

It was a chilly Saturday morning when I traveled just outside of Tyler to photograph this sweet couple who is awaiting the arrival of their first baby.  It was such a great creative outlet for me – their home and property are beautiful and it was fun to shoot at a new place, away from my usual haunts.    Have a peek at some of my favorites from the session:

I love how these two (who are high school sweethearts) looks so comfortable together.  They look completely content on this swing, which is located on the cutest front porch ever!

And I always love to get a shot like this one, I think it puts it all in perspective (from here on out, it’s all about the baby!) 

Then, we decided to get a few shots of mommy-to-be, *j*, alone.  I love the simple white gown, I think it makes these images so timeless…

Tyler Texas Maternity Photography

I “met” *K* about 5 years ago, via an iVillage message board when I was pregnant with Cullen and she was pregnant with her oldest little boy *R*.  The message board was for babies who were due in June 2005 and was basically a place to ask questions, commiserate, and get to know other Moms.  Once the June babies were born, you then became a “play group” and a whole new chapter of questions and commiserating began!  Over the last five years, I have fallen off of the message board (due to lack of time), but *K* and I have kept in contact.  She lives a couple of hours away in the Dallas/Fort Worth area but thanks to social networking sites, we have been able to keep up with one another.  We have both had our second little boys and now, *K* is expecting her third.  This time, a little girl.    I was so happy when she emailed and asked about the family making the trek to Tyler for a session.  I loved being able to document the final weeks (she is due any day now!) in this new chapter of their lives…

Here’s *K*, in one of my favorite shots from the day…  I think she looks bee-u-tee-ful.  Honestly, I have never seen such a tiny, perfectly round tummy.  It’s like she has a little volleyball tucked away in there instead of a baby girl!

And finally, we captured a few shots of Mom and her boys.  I had intended to capture more serious shots of the three of them together, but honestly, the boys were funny.  The more I laughed at them, the harder they and *K* would laugh and I ended up loving how “real” these are (if you are a Mom of boys, you can relate!).  Plus, I think *K*’s smile is amazing in these images, she truly looks in her element:

So, after many months of complaining about my old blog… I’m happy to introduce my new (is it rude of me to say pretty?) blog space. And what does this mean for you, faithful blog reader?  Well, not much except ease in navigation and more importantly BIGGER images!  Big, pretty, delicious images for you to view that won’t be distorted or lose quality.  Sigh.  I’m in heaven people, really.  It’s so about time. 

Other changes are coming too… a new logo (hey, we all need a little updating now and again).  New pricing, and several collections that will be now be available for purchase.  These collections will include goodies like session albums, discounted a la carte pricing and drum roll please… digital files.

2009 was a great year, lots of growth that included new clients, new friends, new challenges and a new space.  My little space at 418 South Broadway is still evolving, but I’m thrilled to be able to offer a unique location that gets dreamy natural light and the option for studio lighting.  In the next couple of months, I hope to have the additional office space finished.  That space will showcase ideas for wall collections, products (albums, folios, etc) and all ordering will take place there as well.

And of course, it goes without saying, with this new, pretty little blog, I have no excuse but to be better about updating it.  The gauntlet has been thrown, so to speak!

And it just wouldn’t be fun if I didn’t include a few images from a recent maternity session that took place at the studio.  Meet Shelly and Elan… they are happily awaiting the arrival of their first baby (a boy!) due early February.  They were such a sweet couple, patient with my ideas and constant chatter (yes, I know I talk a lot, most of it completely irrelevant).  They photographed so well, Shelly looked adorable.  Seriously, what a cute and perfectly round tummy.  And her pretty brown eyes and dimple… well, see for yourself:
