Spring has sprung and I have been busy!  So many beautiful sessions to blog, but I will start with this one 

I am so lucky to have the most fabulous clients, who not only have beautiful children, but provide me with the most amazing places to shoot!  Case in point, this beautiful field of yellow “flowers”.  I say “flowers” loosely since I suppose that they are technically weeds, but I just have a hard time calling anything so bright and colorful a negative word, like “weed”.  It just doesn’t seem right.  And since it’s my blog, I’ll call them flowers, um-kay? 

Thanks to the beautiful *a* children and their lovely Mommy, who were in from the Dallas area visiting family.  Lovely children, lovely location… doesn’t get much better than that!

Newborn Photographer for east Texas

I absolutely love getting to know my couples who come in for maternity sessions.  Since there aren’t any kiddos there (yet!) as a distraction, sessions tend to be a little more laid back, slower in pace, and it gives me a chance to try new ideas or play around with lighting.  *E* and *R* came from Nacogdoches for their session and they were totally game to go along with my ideas, and we ended up with some beautiful imagery…

We started out by having some fun in the studio — it can take some couples a while to get comfortable, but these two were so relaxed:

Then, we decided to do some shooting downtown, we had amazing light…

Tyler Texas Maternity Photographer

It was a chilly Saturday morning when I traveled just outside of Tyler to photograph this sweet couple who is awaiting the arrival of their first baby.  It was such a great creative outlet for me – their home and property are beautiful and it was fun to shoot at a new place, away from my usual haunts.    Have a peek at some of my favorites from the session:

I love how these two (who are high school sweethearts) looks so comfortable together.  They look completely content on this swing, which is located on the cutest front porch ever!

And I always love to get a shot like this one, I think it puts it all in perspective (from here on out, it’s all about the baby!) 

Then, we decided to get a few shots of mommy-to-be, *j*, alone.  I love the simple white gown, I think it makes these images so timeless…

Tyler Texas Maternity Photography

A few days ago, we arrived home from a whirlwind trip to NW Arkansas.  I must have been crazy to leave in the midst of my busiest time of year, but there were so many fun and amazing perks to the trip, I just couldn’t say no.  And thank goodness I didn’t!  Quite honestly, I ended up having an amazing time, in a beautiful location, visiting with old (young!) friends, shooting, and spending time (away from computers and cell phones) with my husband, two boys and one of our dogs at beautiful Devil’s Den.

The trip started out as a visit/trade out shoot with a friend from college, who I reconnected with via social networking sites a couple of years ago.  Funny thing, we both ended up being photographers and over the last year, it’s been so fun getting to know each other again and talk about our businesses.  I also ended up being able to coordinate a session with a friend from Kansas, of her two beautiful daughters, but that’s another blog post to come!

So, on to the good stuff.  I have to show off the images I shot of my beautiful friend (inside and out!),  Bobbie Yocum of Yocum Photography.  If you are looking for a fabulous Fayetteville, Sprindale, or NW Arkansas Photographer, she is your girl!  I had such a great time shooting her family session, at a to-die-for location that I happened to discover on my way back to Devil’s Den one morning.  The foliage was amazing there, plus there were several abandoned little buildings on site, gorgeous green grass and what I didn’t know when I first saw the location, a mega light trap.  What is a light trap, you ask?  A ‘light trap’ is a small pocket found in extremely rare places on earth that traps totally glorious, radiant, fall-on-your-knees-and-cry-of-happiness, amazing light.  Okay, I totally made that definition up, but I do hope it hammers my point home.    Have a look at what we ended up with:

Though it still feels like summer outside, the Christmas rush is really just around the corner.  And I have to say, I’m officially ready.  Not only because it’s my favorite time of year, but also because I am so ready for the cooler weather that comes along with the holidays!

This year, I’m encouraging all of my clients to book early (think October and early November), to have more chances at available dates.  Here are the details on what’s included in the mini:

All mini sessions have to take place before November 25th,  that gives us plenty of time to get holiday cards back (and saves my sanity a little bit!).  Amazing holiday cards are in the works, examples of those coming soon

I loved this session for so many reasons.

I loved the happiness that sparkles between a family that I was lucky enough to see and capture.  I loved the sublime location — a rolling acreage of greenery, hay bales, and beautiful sky.  I loved Mom’s smile – big, beautiful and full of joy!  I loved an adorable baby girl in a vintage high chair, and a big sister who was totally fearless and full of personality.  I loved how Dad happily went along with everything I asked, even though I know the September heat was making him uncomfortable.

I loved how I felt when I left the session.  Fully, wholly, and completely content with what I do and so grateful for my wonderful clients.

My boys head back to preschool tomorrow and it’s a little bittersweet.  I guess it’s official:  the lazy days of summer vacation are gone.

Part of me is happy to get back to a routine.  But the other part of me is so going to miss the days of sleeping in, going to the pool, the movies, visiting with friends, out for lunch, and watching cartoons in the morning.  Fortunately, they are only gone three days out of the week, but it still changes the “vibe” of our week.

Now, I have no excuse but to get back to work!  I’ve fallen off the wagon a little bit this summer with blogging, so it’s time for me to jump back on and get with it.  I have some great things coming up, so be on the lookout for some special promotions I have never offered before.  And since no post is complete without an image share, here’s a favorite shot from the summer of my boys:

The Silhouette Sessions were so much fun last fall, I’ve decided to offer them again this year.  The dates are September 18th and 25th only, so drop me an email if you’d like to get on the schedule.  And please note, these filled very quickly last year, so if you are interested, contact me as soon as possible!

There are endless opportunities with a silhouette, the design and color options are almost endless!  Silhouettes can easily become amazing wall art for your home, they can be used to personalize linen note cards, as gift tags, given as Christmas gifts for grandparents, etc.  My favorite thing about them is how you can take such a timeless tradition and easily turn it into a modern piece of art.  How many things can transition that easily?!?

Here’s the scoop on this year’s sessions:

Last year I ended up doing maternity silhouettes, at least 4 canine silhouettes (including one of my own!), and several sibling groupings.  Again, the possibilities are endless!  Packages start at $99, shoot me an email if you’d like to see more silhouette examples

Last week, Vanessa and Brent McKellar of Vanessa McKellar Productions came by the studio for a quick little session.  You must know going in, Vanessa and Brent make up a most fabulous team as husband and wife and as AMAZING wedding videographers.  Seriously, if you know someone who is planning a wedding, I urge you to refer them to the above link and check out their work.  They have a way of capturing a wedding day with amazing cinematic styling — artistic, romantic, loaded with details, and chock full of emotion.

Since Brent and Vanessa are being featured in a magazine about their recent work with the Super 8 camera/film, they needed some fun shots of them with their equipment.  If you aren’t familiar with what Super 8 is, think about that intro to “The Wonder Years” where Kevin is waving at the camera, laughing… remember that?  That was Super 8 film and it’s making a resurgence in the film making industry.  It’s warm, it’s vintage, it’s cool.  Just what we wanted to portray in the images.  Check out some of my (many!) favorites:
