Beautiful baby boy *b*, recently came to see me at the studio.  At almost a month old, he has the most beautiful skin, and the most kissable little lips EVER.  He is just downright yummy.  I look forward to watching him grow up…

Newborn Photographer for east Texas

I’m still oodles behind on blogging, but I did want to share a recent newborn session from the studio.  The *a* family are repeat clients and I was thrilled to meet their newest addition.  Baby *g* was such a good boy, he slept almost the entire time, waking only once for a quick snack.  He was a snuggler too, I just loved holding him between setups, a definite job perk! 

We started the session off with a quick shot of baby *g* with big sister *o* and big brother *e*.  A cute little trio if I do say so myself:

I love what I do for many reasons, but I especially love what I do when I get a chance to work with such sweet people, like the *h* family.  The *h* family came to me via a referral, and I was so happy to have a chance to photograph their precious newborn baby boy.

Of course, all babies are special, but baby *b* is extra special.  His mom and dad waited so long for him and I have to say, I think it was well worth the wait.  Baby *b* is just perfect and was such a delight to photograph, never fussed and stayed asleep for most of the session (even though he was past that “two week old” window).

Oh, little baby boy *G* was so very, very good — once he drifted off, he was like putty!  I was able to move him around – on his tummy, on his side, on his back… and he would barely even stir.  Here are some of my favorites:

So, as promised in my last blog post, I have more newborn eye candy to share.  I’m happy to introduce baby girl *h*, who has the most beautiful peachy skin, pretty dark hair and a Mom and Grandmother that I have so much fun with during our sessions!

Meet baby Nicholas, he came in for his newborn session and was such a champ – he snoozed the entire time!  He was such a love, super snuggly and loved to be “shushed” and patted back to sleep.  If he is sleeping half as well at night time, Mom and Dad are in good shape!

I’m a little short on words today, I’m trying to catch up on editing sessions and I’ve been a little under the weather too.

Despite all of that, I had to share a few images from one of my sessions last weekend.  This particular family has a very special new addition, a beautiful baby boy, who was much anticipated.  They live about three hours from Tyler, and coordinated a visit with family who lives in the area (who are also wonderful clients) so that I could photograph the little one.  I was so very glad they did, he was such a muffin, so pretty (little boys can be pretty too!) with the most beautiful light, almost amber colored hair and sweet little mouth and chin.

And did I mention he has a gorgeous big sister too?

Here’s part two of my custom photography series, this time, talking about price.  Yes, our old friend, Mr. Price.  Surely you’ve met him before.  In fact, maybe you are well acquainted with Mr. Price?  Maybe, just maybe, he’s the one thing holding you back from the custom photography experience?  If so, you should definitely read on!

Again, the following is borrowed Marianne Drenthe, via Professional Child Photographer :

APPLES to ORANGES to BANANAS: Often times clients will mention to their photographer that X studio in the mall/department store only charges $19.99 for an 8×10 “sheet” or they may mention other things related to discount photography chains.  The fact is those discount chains make their money on volume, not on customized 1:1 service.  In February 2007 a company who has leased photography retail space in a rather well known discount retailer closed down 500 of their portrait studios across the nation.  The reason it happened is simple, you cannot make money on 99¢ “professional” prints if you do not sell enough of them.  Interestingly enough – those same studios that offer the loss leader packages often charge much much more for their a la carte pricing vs. many custom photographers (as high as $40-50 for an 8×10).

A little history – the whole reason the big department stores began offering portrait services in the first place was to get you, the savvy consumer, in through their door so that you could spend more money with them in other departments.  Your “PORTRAITS” are considered the “loss leader”.  Your portraits that are meant to symbolize a once-in-a-lifetime stage in your child’s life are part of what a store considers a way to get you in there door to spend more money on goods that you might not really want or need but because you’re there “anyway” you buy.

Also keep in mind that when you go to a chain studio, as a consumer, you don’t have the benefit of 1:1 attention for 2 hours at your home where your child is allowed to explore, play and be comfortable in their home environment, nor do you get the experience that many custom photographers are known for as well as the lovely captures of natural expressions.  You simply get a bare bones, “SAY CHEESE” experience.

More on price next week    And of course, I can’t post without an image, so I thought I’d show off one of my little muffins (that’s my Mommy code for “children”).  Coben turned three last Saturday <sob, my babies are growing up!>.  We celebrated the day with a party, complete with tons of Batman paraphernalia, friends, cake and pizza that night.  He’s still stoked over it all.  Anyway, these images were taken as a test for lighting one afternoon at the studio, but they make me smile every time I look at them, so I decided they were keepers.
